WASHINGTONIA — THE IMPERIAL HEALTH DECREE ARRIVES

There are executive orders.

There are very important executive orders.

And then there are executive orders signed by Imperator Donaldus J. Trumpius Maximus Aureus, Supreme Commander of the Resolute Desk, Defender of Parentalis Choicus, Conqueror of Federal Paperwork, and First Emperor of Things That Can Be Improved by Adding the Word “Gold.”

On August 10, 2026, Trumpius Caesar summoned the scribes of the White Palace and unveiled his latest imperial achievement:

The Gold Standard Childhood Vaccine Recommendations.

Not silver.

Not bronze.

Certainly not some sad bureaucratic aluminum standard.

GOLD.

Because in the Empire of Trumpius, even immunization policy must apparently sound like something awarded at a luxury hotel convention.

According to the White Palace Fact Sheet, the new policy focuses universal childhood immunization recommendations on protection against 11 diseases, compared with the broader recommendations referenced by the administration from the CDC’s 2024 schedule.

Trumpius looked upon the numbers.

He saw 18.

Then he saw 11.

And somewhere, deep inside the Imperial Department of Tremendous Numbers, a trumpet sounded.

“ELEVEN!” Trumpius might have proclaimed.

“Beautiful number. Very manageable. People love eleven. Tremendous eleven.”

And thus began the Great Imperial Reorganization of the Vaccine Scroll.

MORE PARENTALIS CHOICUS!

At the center of the decree stands one of Trumpius Caesar’s favorite imperial treasures:

CHOICE.

Or, in the official language of our imaginary Roman-American court:

MAXIMUS PARENTALIS CHOICUS.

The administration says the recommendations are intended to give parents more information and more options when making vaccination decisions for their children.

Vaccinations outside the new universal recommendations would, according to the Fact Sheet, increasingly fall under shared clinical decision-making between parents and healthcare professionals.

This means the Imperial Palace is not merely rearranging a schedule.

It is rearranging the philosophy behind the schedule.

The Trumpius principle appears simple:

Why have one standardized pathway when America can have options?

Options are tremendous.

Options are freedom.

Options also require appointments, paperwork, medical discussions, scheduling, rescheduling and approximately seventeen minutes on hold listening to the pediatric clinic’s instrumental version of “Für Elise.”

Freedom has never been entirely free.

Sometimes it comes with a waiting room.

MMR BECOMES THREE IMPERIAL APPOINTMENTS

Then comes one of the most striking parts of the decree.

According to the Fact Sheet, the administration recommends separating the combined MMR vaccine into individual shots for measles, mumps and rubella.

Furthermore, vaccines should be administered during separate medical visits, according to the recommendations, giving parents greater control over timing and frequency.

Trumpius Caesar has therefore achieved something previously thought impossible:

He has brought the philosophy of à la carte dining to immunization policy.

“Would you like the MMR?”

“No, thank you.”

“Perhaps the Measles Maximus today, Mumpsius next month and Rubellius after the imperial school holiday?”

“Excellent.”

The pediatrician’s office now risks becoming less like a clinic and more like the reservation desk of the Roman Senate.

“Your audience for Injection II is confirmed for 9:40 a.m. Please arrive fifteen minutes early, bring your insurance card, and sacrifice no goats in the parking lot.”

Naturally, beneath all the imperial comedy lies a serious point: vaccine decisions for individual children are medical decisions. Satire, presidential branding and golden executive folders are not substitutes for qualified medical advice.

Even Trumpius Caesar cannot diagnose a child from behind the Resolute Throne.

Probably.

THE STATES RECEIVE AN IMPERIAL SCROLL

The decree also turns its majestic gaze toward America’s states.

States maintaining vaccination requirements for school attendance are advised to consider the Gold Standard Childhood Vaccine Recommendations and whether their laws should be updated accordingly.

The administration also emphasizes parental authority, religious freedom, disability accommodations, equal protection and religious and medical exemptions.

In ordinary bureaucratic English, that would require several paragraphs.

In Trumpius Latin:

LIBERTAS PARENTALIS MAGNIFICUS!

Much better.

Every federal agency is likewise encouraged to advance the Gold Standard recommendations within its legal authority.

Thus, across Washingtonia, thousands of federal employees may soon experience the traditional ceremonial ritual of government:

Receiving a memorandum explaining another memorandum that implements an executive order concerning recommendations derived from an assessment commissioned after a previous memorandum.

Rome built aqueducts.

Washington builds PDFs.

Every civilization has its monuments.

ENTER ROBERTUS F. KENNEDIUS SECUNDUS

The Secretary of Health and Human Services is directed, through the HHS Task Force on Safer Childhood Vaccines, to present plans for improving vaccine research and expanding options available to American parents.

Risk-benefit profiles of childhood vaccines are also to undergo continuing evaluation using American and international data.

This is where Robertus F. Kennedius Secundus Medicamenticus, Imperial Prefect of Health and Grand Inspector of Things Found Inside Medicine Cabinets, enters the Trumpius saga.

Continuous scientific evaluation is, of course, a perfectly ordinary part of medicine.

But ordinary evaluation is not enough for the Trumpius Empire.

It needs a Task Force.

A presidential presentation.

Several binders.

Possibly an eagle.

And ideally a gold plaque reading:

SCIENTIA MAXIMA.

SUDDENLY, EUROPE EXISTS!

Perhaps the most entertaining twist in the imperial narrative is the administration’s use of other developed countries as benchmarks.

Yes.

Europe.

The same mysterious continent that periodically appears in Trumpius speeches as a distant province populated by tariffs, regulations, tiny automobiles and people who somehow survive without putting ice cubes into every beverage.

Suddenly Trumpius Caesar gazes across the Atlantic and declares:

“Perhaps we should compare notes.”

According to the administration, an HHS scientific assessment published in January 2026 compared U.S. childhood immunization recommendations with those of peer developed countries, while examining uptake, public confidence, mandates and available scientific evidence.

The assessment, as characterized by the White Palace, concluded that the United States recommended more childhood vaccines than peer nations and identified a group of vaccines consistently recommended across those countries.

Then come the imperial numbers.

In 1980, according to the Fact Sheet, an American child following the CDC schedule received 23 doses in seven shots protecting against seven diseases.

By 2024, the administration says the routine schedule involved at least 84 doses delivered through at least 57 shots against 17 diseases, plus an RSV monoclonal antibody immunization, bringing the total to 18 diseases.

At this moment, Calculatius Maximus Spreadsheeticus, Imperial Master of Excel, reportedly stared at Column G and whispered:

“By Jupiter.”

Yet counting doses or appointments alone cannot determine whether an immunization is medically appropriate. Medical recommendations depend on evidence about risks, benefits, disease prevalence, individual circumstances and other factors considerably more complicated than imperial arithmetic.

This is deeply unfortunate.

Trumpius loves arithmetic when the numbers fit on a podium.

TRUST, EDUCATION AND NO SMALL AMOUNT OF GOLD

The administration’s assessment also argues that many peer nations maintain high childhood vaccination rates through public confidence and education rather than school-entry mandates.

The United States, by comparison, is described as one of the minority of peer nations where such requirements exist through state laws.

Trumpius Caesar therefore unveils the philosophical pillars of his new health empire:

TRUST!

EDUCATION!

CHOICE!

GOLD!

It sounds less like a public-health framework and more like the brochure for an extremely expensive Roman spa.

But the political message is unmistakable.

The administration wants greater flexibility for families and doctors while reducing the scope of universal federal recommendations.

Whether that approach ultimately produces better health outcomes is something that evidence, medical research and real-world results—not imperial declarations—will have to determine.

MAHA MAXIMUS MARCHES ON

The vaccine decree also forms part of the broader Make America Healthy Again, or MAHA, campaign.

Trumpius Caesar established the President’s MAHA Commission in February 2025 with an initial focus on chronic childhood disease.

The administration subsequently ended the blanket recommendation for COVID-19 vaccination for all children, moving toward shared clinical decision-making.

In May 2025 came the Make Our Children Healthy Again Assessment.

In September came the Make Our Children Healthy Again Strategy, containing more than 120 initiatives.

One hundred and twenty!

Because apparently eleven is the correct number for core disease recommendations, but when discussing presidential initiatives, anything below triple digits would be embarrassingly provincial.

Then, in December 2025, Trumpius issued a presidential memorandum beginning the process of aligning core U.S. childhood vaccine recommendations with practices in comparable developed countries.

HHS conducted its assessment.

Further presidential action followed.

And now the Imperial Gold Standard has arrived.

AND TRUMPIUS SAW THE SCHEDULE — AND IT WAS GOLDEN

So ends another magnificent day in Washingtonia.

Trumpius Caesar sits behind the Resolute Throne.

Before him lies the newly reordered Imperial Vaccine Scroll.

Eleven universally prioritized diseases.

More individualized decisions.

Greater parental authority.

Separate vaccine visits.

Instructions for the states.

Continuing research.

International comparisons.

And, naturally:

GOLD STANDARD SCIENCE.

Because ordinary science would simply be science.

And nothing in the Empire of Trumpius is permitted to remain ordinary when it can instead be stamped, polished, gilded and carried into the East Room by four ceremonial trumpeters.

Whether the policy ultimately proves to be the medical triumph proclaimed by the White Palace will be judged by researchers, physicians, families, data and health outcomes over time.

But politically?

The ceremony is already complete.

The imperial pen has moved.

The golden seal has landed.

And somewhere inside HHS, one exhausted official is probably staring at a calendar containing dozens of appointments and whispering:

“Could the Gold Standard perhaps include free parking?”
