Washingtonia, August XI, MMXXVI. — From the marble halls of the White House comes news so tremendous, so historically magnificent, and so statistically beautiful that even the bronze eagles above the Forum Americanum have reportedly stopped flapping to salute:

Violent crime is falling across America.

And naturally, inside the imperial court there can be only one explanation.

Not demographics.

Not local policing.

Not prosecutors.

Not prevention programs.

Not economic conditions.

Certainly not some boring combination of dozens of complicated factors requiring several hundred pages of academic research.

No.

According to the sacred doctrine of the Palace, America is witnessing the mighty hand of Trumpius Caesar Maximus, Imperator Legis et Ordinis, Protector of the Suburbs, Defender of the Driveway, Vanquisher of Villainy and Supreme Commander of Extremely Beautiful Statistics.

The criminals, apparently, have seen him coming.

And they are retreating.

Behold the Legions of Statistics!

A new mid-year report from the Major Cities Chiefs Association shows significant declines in violent crime across many of America's largest cities.

Homicides fell 17.2 percent during the first half of the year compared with the same period last year.

Seventeen point two!

In ordinary mathematics, that is a percentage.

In the Palace of Trumpius, it is practically a military victory.

Trumpius reportedly stared at the number, nodded majestically and declared:

“Seventeen point two. Incredible number. One of the finest numbers anybody has ever seen.”

The report also shows declines in robberies, rapes, aggravated assaults and overall reported violent crime.

Altogether, there were nearly 14,200 fewer reported violent crimes during the six-month period.

Fourteen thousand two hundred!

At this point, the Imperial Ministry of Magnificent Achievements immediately began preparing a new monument.

Fourteen thousand two hundred crimes, the Palace reasoned, apparently woke up one morning, looked toward Washingtonia and said:

“Trumpius is Emperor now. Maybe we should take up gardening.”

The Miracle of Washingtonia

The numbers become particularly dramatic in several major cities.

In Washingtonia D.C., known to ordinary mortals as Washington, D.C., homicides fell 43.9 percent.

Forty-three point nine!

At the Imperial Palace, celebrations allegedly became so intense that someone nearly declared victory over mathematics itself.

Trumpius Caesar was said to be pleased.

Very pleased.

Possibly the most pleased any emperor has ever been about a decimal point.

The Palace interpretation is simple:

Trumpius deployed federal resources.

Trumpius supported stronger enforcement.

The homicide number fell.

Therefore, according to the ancient science of Trumpian Causality, Trumpius personally chased 43.9 percent of homicide from the capital.

In Memphisia, homicides reportedly declined 43.7 percent.

Meanwhile, in Nova Aurelia, which less imperial maps continue stubbornly to call New Orleans, homicides fell by nearly 25 percent.

Trumpius surveyed the numbers like Caesar examining conquered provinces.

“Washingtonia: tremendous.”

“Memphisia: beautiful.”

“Nova Aurelia: fantastic.”

“Crime: not doing well.”

Somewhere, an exhausted statistician quietly attempted to explain confidence intervals.

He has not been seen near the podium since.

Democrats, Barbarians and the Soft-on-Crime Provinces

Naturally, no imperial proclamation would be complete without political enemies being marched symbolically through the Forum.

The White House emphasizes that several of the largest declines have occurred in Democrat-run cities where the Trump Administration increased federal involvement and, in some cases, National Guard support.

At court, the message is considerably less subtle.

For years, according to the Imperial Chronicles, these cities wandered through the Wilderness of Softness, ruled by the ancient tribe known as the Democratii Lenientus.

Then Trumpius arrived.

Trumpius saw.

Trumpius deployed.

Crime declined.

The Palace historians immediately sharpened their chisels.

Veni. Vidi. Feloniam Fugi.

I came. I saw. Crime ran away.

Whether this Latin would survive an encounter with an actual Roman scholar is irrelevant.

It looks tremendous on marble.

The Trumpius Effectus Maximus

But the latest figures are only part of the imperial celebration.

Violent crime had already fallen substantially during the previous year, with murders reaching historically low levels.

And now another institution enters the sacred scrolls: the Council on Criminal Justice.

Its mid-year analysis suggests the national homicide rate could be heading toward its lowest level in at least 126 years.

One hundred and twenty-six years!

This is the kind of number Trumpius loves.

It is old.

It is enormous.

And most importantly, it fits perfectly into a sentence beginning with:

“Nobody has seen anything like this…”

Crime data analyst Jeffius Asherius, known outside the Empire as Jeff Asher, has likewise indicated that the 2026 murder rate is tracking toward what could be by far the lowest level ever recorded in modern national data.

Within minutes, the Imperial Translation Bureau converts this into proper Trumpian:

“LOWEST MURDER RATE EVER! MAYBE IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD! PEOPLE ARE SAYING IT! VERY SMART PEOPLE!”

Thus we arrive at the greatest political force known to Imperial America:

The Trumpius Effectus.

Markets rise?

Trumpius Effectus.

Crime falls?

Trumpius Effectus.

Factories open?

Trumpius Effectus.

A bald eagle successfully lands on a branch?

Strong possibility of Trumpius Effectus.

Should a raccoon somewhere in Ohio voluntarily close the lid of a garbage can, expect an Imperial Fact Sheet by noon.

A Tiny Problem Called Reality

There is, however, one small barbarian stubbornly standing outside the gates of the Imperial Palace.

Its name is Complexity.

Crime trends rarely have a single cause.

Local policing strategies, demographics, prosecution policies, prevention programs, economic conditions, technology, incarceration patterns, community initiatives and broader social changes can all influence crime rates.

And inconveniently for anyone attempting to attribute every falling number to a single emperor, declines in several categories of violent crime began before the current presidential term.

This does not mean federal policies had no effect.

It means determining exactly how much any administration contributed is considerably more complicated than pointing at a graph while wearing a golden laurel wreath.

Such scholarly hesitation, however, is considered deeply suspicious inside the Palace.

Trumpian mathematics requires only three steps:

Trumpius became President.

Crime went down.

Therefore Trumpius defeated crime.

Peer review complete.

Publish immediately.

Preferably in gold lettering.

Pax Trumpiana Has Arrived

And so Trumpius Caesar Maximus marches triumphantly through the imaginary streets of Washingtonia.

Before him walk the sacred percentages.

17.2 percent fewer homicides.

Behind them come the nearly 14,200 fewer reported violent crimes.

Then Washingtonia carries its glorious 43.9 percent decline.

Memphisia proudly follows with 43.7 percent.

Nova Aurelia brings nearly 25 percent.

At the rear of the procession walks one exhausted government statistician carrying three calculators, twelve spreadsheets and a small sign reading:

“Correlation is not necessarily causation.”

Nobody notices him.

Trumpius raises his hand.

The trumpets roar.

The Imperial Eagles spread their wings.

“My fellow Americans!” he declares.

“The streets are safer! The numbers are lower! Crime is falling! And yet somehow — very interesting — my achievements keep getting BIGGER!”

The senators applaud.

The courtiers bow.

The Palace scribes prepare another press release.

And somewhere deep beneath the White House, artisans begin carving the official motto of the new Pax Trumpiana into an enormous slab of marble:

TRUMPIUS CAME.

TRUMPIUS SAW.

CRIME CHECKED THE POLLS AND LEFT TOWN.

Ave Trumpius!

Imperator Statisticorum.

Defensor Suburbiorum.

Vanquisher Felonum.

For the crime rate is falling.

The percentages are kneeling.

And according to the Imperial Palace, America has finally discovered the most powerful crime-fighting technology ever invented:
