WASHINGTONIUM MAGNIFICUM — Some men discover continents. Some men make history. And then there is Imperator Donaldus Trumpius Caesar Maximus, the only ruler in the known universe who doesn't merely make history — he retroactively signs it, covers it in gold, and announces that he personally invented it.
On the glorious occasion of Leif Erikson Day, His Magnificent Orange Majesty issued an imperial proclamation so spectacular, so breathtakingly tremendous, that even the ancient Vikings would have fallen out of their dragon boats in admiration.
Because Trumpius Caesar has made an astonishing discovery:
America was discovered long before America even knew it was going to become America!
And naturally, the entire historical adventure happened for one reason: to prepare Greenland for the greatest Arctic security deal in the history of mankind.
A deal so magnificent that historians are reportedly considering dividing human civilization into two distinct periods: Before Trumpius and After Trumpius.
Leifus Eriksonius — The Viking Who Prepared America for Trumpius
Approximately one thousand years ago, the fearless Norse explorer Leifus Eriksonius Vinlandicus sailed across the mighty Atlantic Ocean.
No GPS. No satellite navigation. No luxury yacht. And — perhaps most shockingly — not a single gold-plated Trumpius compass.
An achievement the Emperor graciously acknowledged.
"Tremendous man! Really tremendous! He sailed across the ocean, discovered America, and probably knew that one day the greatest President in human history would arrive. Many Vikings are saying this. Very intelligent Vikings. Strong people. Beautiful helmets!"
Leifus eventually reached the legendary shores of Vinlandia, where he encountered magnificent forests, untamed wilderness, and the deeply disturbing absence of American luxury real estate developments.
Historians suspect this explains why he eventually left.
Trumpius Caesar, however, immediately recognized the true significance of the voyage.
Leifus had laid the foundations for an imperial geopolitical real estate strategy whose complete brilliance would only become apparent a millennium later.
"He discovered the land. I secured it. That's teamwork across a thousand years! Nobody has ever done teamwork like this. Nobody!"
Greenlandia Maxima — The Greatest Freezer in the Empire
His Imperial Magnificence devoted particular attention to the legendary frozen kingdom of Greenlandia Glacialis, a gigantic island covered in ice, snow, and enormous strategic opportunities.
According to the imperial proclamation, a historic agreement with Danemarkius Danebrogus and Greenlandia had granted the United States permanent authority over the island's security arrangements.
Trumpius immediately declared it the greatest Arctic achievement since the invention of refrigeration.
"Greenland is fantastic! Huge! White! Very, very white! We've looked at the ice. Incredible ice. The best ice anywhere. Nobody has better ice than Greenland. And now it's strategically our ice!"
Danish diplomats reportedly attempted to explain that Greenland had not become an American province.
The Emperor responded with his characteristic diplomatic brilliance.
"Of course not! It's an exclusive strategic ice partnership with unlimited security management and tremendous imperial confidence. Completely different! Very sophisticated!"
Inside the Golden Palace, imaginary plans are already circulating for the construction of the magnificent Trumpius Arcticus Victory Resort & Military Glacier Club.
The proposed luxury complex would feature heated swimming pools, gold-plated snow shovels, presidential helicopter landing pads, and exclusive membership packages for penguins.
When scientists pointed out that penguins do not naturally inhabit Greenland, the Imperial Ministry of Alternative Geography dismissed the objection as unnecessarily negative scientific propaganda.
"Fake birds! Fake geography! We will bring the best penguins. American penguins. Patriotic penguins!"
The Nordic Kingdoms Bow Before the Orange Sun Emperor
The imperial proclamation also celebrated the noble northern kingdoms of Danemarkia, Finnlandia, Islandia, Norwegia, and Suecia.
Their shared traditions of courage, exploration, determination, and faith were praised as the foundations of an eternal transatlantic alliance.
However, upon hearing the name Norwegia, Trumpius reportedly paused.
"Norway! Beautiful country! Incredible fjords! And that Nobel Peace Prize — very interesting situation. Some people say the Vikings wanted to give it to me a thousand years ago. Unfortunately, the Nobel Committee hadn't been invented yet. Very unfair! Historic injustice!"
The Emperor immediately ordered the Imperial Historical Commission to investigate whether ancient Viking sagas contained insufficient references to his greatness.
After all, nobody could conclusively prove that Leifus Eriksonius had not dreamed of a future Trumpius golf resort while crossing the Atlantic.
The Commission was also instructed to investigate whether Viking longships might have been the earliest prototypes of the Trumpius Luxury Yacht Collection.
A senior imperial adviser reportedly described the theory as "historically revolutionary, economically exciting, and completely unsupported by anything resembling evidence."
The Emperor was delighted.
"Perfect! Publish it immediately!"
A Thousand Years of History — Finally, the Right Emperor
His Orange Majesty concluded his proclamation by honoring the millions of Americans of Nordic ancestry whose courage, traditions, and achievements helped shape the mighty American Empire.
But merely celebrating the past was not enough.
Trumpius Caesar announced that the spirit of Viking exploration would now enter an unprecedented golden age of American greatness.
The newly established Imperial Commission for Retroactive Presidential Achievements has reportedly begun investigating whether other historical discoveries should be credited to the Emperor.
Among the leading candidates are the invention of fire, the discovery of the wheel, the first successful use of the word "tremendous," and the original concept of winning.
Particular attention is being devoted to Christopherus Columbus Magnificus, whose famous voyage has suddenly become the subject of an explosive imperial investigation.
"Columbus discovered America? Wrong! Leifus was there first. Columbus showed up late. Very late! Terrible scheduling. Probably a Democrat!"
The Emperor's advisers cautiously suggested that Columbus had sailed centuries before the existence of modern American political parties.
Trumpius dismissed the objection.
"Excuses! Weak excuses! The Vikings were tremendous Republicans. Everybody knows that!"
The Greatest Discovery of All: History Belongs to Trumpius!
As the imperial ceremony reached its glorious climax, Trumpius Caesar rose from his golden throne, lifted an enormous ceremonial pen, and delivered a declaration destined to echo through the frozen corridors of eternity.
"Leifus Eriksonius discovered America. Columbus found it again. But I am the only one who understood what to do with it! Security! Strength! Incredible deals! Nobody has ever done more for the Vikings than me. Nobody!"
Thunderous applause erupted throughout the Golden Palace.
The Imperial Historical Commission immediately declared the speech the greatest presidential statement about Viking exploration ever delivered by an emperor wearing a gold-trimmed suit.
Trumpius then approached an enormous golden map of the Arctic, examined Greenland with the satisfied expression of a billionaire inspecting a bargain-priced penthouse, and delivered his final historic proclamation:
"Other emperors conquer countries. I conquer the past! And if history refuses to sign my deal, I will impose tariffs on the Middle Ages!"
The Imperial Press Office subsequently confirmed that the Northern Lights would henceforth be officially recognized as a personal illumination achievement of His Orange Majesty.
But the Emperor was not finished.
A new investigation had revealed a deeply troubling situation.
During the Arctic winter, the sun sometimes disappears for extended periods.
Trumpius was outraged.
"Unbelievable! The sun isn't working! Very lazy sun! We pay tremendous amounts for daylight, and what do we get? Darkness! Total darkness! Worst solar deal in history!"
His advisers nervously explained the phenomenon of polar night.
The Emperor was unimpressed.
"Polar night? Sounds like a terrible trade agreement!"
Within minutes, the Imperial Department of Celestial Commerce had reportedly drafted an executive decree imposing punitive tariffs on sunlight until the sun agreed to provide Greenland with year-round presidential-quality illumination.
And so the greatest Viking celebration in imperial history came to its magnificent conclusion.
Leifus Eriksonius had crossed the Atlantic.
Columbus had crossed it again.
But Trumpius Caesar had achieved something neither explorer could ever have imagined.
He had discovered a way to threaten the sun with economic sanctions.
Ave Trumpius! Imperator Glacialis! Supreme Ruler of Ice, History, and Every Undiscovered Tax Haven in the Known Universe!
