When the golden trumpets echoed across the Imperial Forum of Washingtonium Maximus and the marble eagles began circling above the Senate Dome, everyone knew something extraordinary was about to happen.

Trumpius Caesar had summoned the Imperial Senate.

Not for war.

Not for elections.

Not even to unveil another magnificent statue of himself.

No.

This time it was something even greater.

Trade.

Or, as Trumpius preferred to call it:

"Winning with paperwork."

Standing beneath a towering golden banner reading "Reciprocity Is Beautiful", the Emperor raised both hands dramatically.

"My fellow Romans… and future winners," he declared. "For too long, people believed trade agreements had to be complicated. Terrible mistake. They only need one thing."

He paused.

"A fantastic negotiator."

The Senate erupted into thunderous applause before he even continued.

The Greatest Deal Since the Invention of Commerce

Imperial ambassador Negotiatius Maximus unrolled a scroll so enormous that four assistants had to carry it.

"My Emperor," he announced proudly, "the Kingdom of Jordania Hashemitica has agreed to a magnificent reciprocal trade pact."

Trumpius smiled.

"They recognized greatness."

No one dared suggest the negotiations may have involved months of diplomatic work.

History would remember only one thing:

Trumpius Caesar liked the deal.

Therefore…

It had automatically become historic.

Bureaucratius Suffers a Crushing Defeat

One of the Emperor's favorite sections eliminated many unnecessary trade barriers.

Trumpius looked toward the Ministry of Administrative Complications.

"For centuries," he sighed dramatically, "people filled out forms just to prove they already filled out forms."

A nervous official quietly nodded.

Trumpius continued.

"That ends today."

At once, Paragraphius Interpretatius, Supreme Keeper of Red Tape, nearly dropped twelve parchment rolls.

"But… Your Majesty…"

"What?"

"What happens to Form 27-B?"

Trumpius stared.

"It retires."

The entire Ministry entered collective mourning.

Several clerks immediately requested emotional leave.

The Cheese Liberation Campaign

Unexpectedly, the loudest applause came during the section covering cheese.

Yes.

Cheese.

The agreement protected the use of several familiar cheese and meat names while preventing unnecessary restrictions.

Imperial chef Casearius Parmigianus Magnificus burst through the palace doors holding an enormous wheel of cheese.

"The Empire has prevailed!"

Thousands celebrated.

Musicians composed a victory anthem.

Someone released ceremonial dairy products into the fountains.

Historians would later refer to the event as:

The Great Cheese Liberation.

Enter the Digital Legion

Technology minister Cairncrossius Digitalis approached with glowing enthusiasm.

"My Emperor, customs paperwork can become digital."

Trumpius nodded.

"Wonderful."

"No paper?"

"Almost none."

The room fell silent.

One veteran administrator slowly raised his hand.

"What if we print the digital documents?"

Trumpius smiled.

"Now that's experience talking."

The proposal received immediate funding.

Tariffs... But Beautiful

Naturally, tariffs remained one of the Emperor's favorite subjects.

Some people feared tariffs.

Trumpius admired them.

"They're like Imperial bodyguards," he explained.

"They don't stop visitors.

They simply make everyone appreciate the front gate."

Treasurer Mercatorius Tarifus Maximus immediately requested permission to engrave that quote onto every customs building throughout the Empire.

Permission was enthusiastically granted.

Data Shall Cross the Empire

The agreement also encouraged digital commerce, cross-border data flows and protection against unfair digital discrimination.

Cairncrossius unveiled his newest invention:

The Imperial Digital Highway.

"What exactly does it do?" asked one senator.

"It moves information instantly."

"Faster than horses?"

"Much faster."

"Faster than Senate debates?"

"Nothing is that fast."

Even Trumpius laughed.

Security Comes First

Military strategist Bellatorius Hegsethius Maximus stepped forward carrying a map covered in red arrows.

"Our trade routes must remain secure."

Trumpius agreed immediately.

"If someone tries to dodge tariffs by changing shipping labels..."

He pointed dramatically toward the horizon.

"...the Imperial Customs Legion shall find them."

The newly established First Anti-Repackaging Legion adopted its official slogan that same afternoon:

"Trust no cardboard."

Recruitment reached record numbers.

Investing Like Emperors

The agreement encouraged investment in energy, infrastructure and critical industries while strengthening strategic cooperation.

Finance minister Finanzius Schatzmeister Bessentius nearly fainted with excitement.

"Your Majesty... prosperity!"

Trumpius corrected him.

"Not prosperity."

"Imperial prosperity."

"Much bigger."

Construction companies immediately announced plans for new roads, ports, factories and—most importantly—larger statues of the Emperor.

A Truly Reciprocal Triumph

After hours of celebration, ceremonial speeches and approximately seventeen standing ovations, Trumpius Caesar returned to the marble podium.

"Some emperors conquer lands."

He paused.

"I conquer trade agreements."

The crowd roared.

"Some build walls."

Another pause.

"We build opportunities."

The applause became deafening.

"And if the opportunities happen to include excellent tariffs..."

He smiled.

"...that's what I call civilization."

The Senate rose one final time.

Golden eagles circled overhead.

Trumpets echoed across Washingtonium Maximus.

Meanwhile, somewhere deep inside the Ministry of Bureaucracy, Paragraphius Interpretatius quietly created eight brand-new forms explaining why several old forms had been eliminated.

Even in the glorious Empire of Trumpius Caesar…

Some traditions were simply too majestic to disappear.
