In the glorious Imperium Americanum, Imperator Donaldus Trumpius Maximus, Guardian of the Grill, Protector of the Patty, and Supreme Defender of Affordable Ground Beef, has once again intervened before the American people faced the unthinkable: thinner burgers.

By imperial proclamation, Trumpius has temporarily expanded imports of certain lean beef trimmings for 90 days, beginning September 1, 2026. The mission is magnificently simple: bring in more beef, push prices down, protect American ranchers, rebuild the domestic herd, defeat inflation, contain parasites, and somehow make all of this happen without anyone feeling inconvenienced.

A normal administration might call this a temporary adjustment to tariff-rate quotas.

Trumpius Caesar calls it Tuesday.

100,000 Tons a Month for the People

Under the proclamation, eligible trading partners may ship up to 100,000 tons per month of additional lean beef trimmings under lower in-quota tariff rates.

But this is no unrestricted invasion of foreign cattle.

Absolutely not.

These are carefully selected, highly disciplined, strategically lean beef trimmings destined primarily to be blended with American beef for ground beef production.

In other words:

The steak remains American. The hamburger receives international reinforcements.

The imperial scribes point out that the United States is expected to produce more than 11 million tons of beef in 2026, so the additional imports remain limited relative to total domestic production.

Translated from official Trumpian:

“It is a tremendous amount of beef. Huge beef. But compared to our unbelievably enormous American beef, it is actually very small. Possibly the smallest huge beef shipment in history.”

The proclamation also encourages the imported beef to be sold at roughly a 25 percent discount compared with prevailing import prices.

Trumpius Maximus has therefore achieved what generations of emperors failed to accomplish:

He has weaponized the supermarket special offer.

The Great Imperial Cattle Problem

The action comes amid a troublesome combination of drought, wildfire conditions, reduced grazing and feed availability, strong domestic demand, and the spectacularly unpleasant New World Screwworm.

Because the parasite threatens livestock, some southern ports have remained closed to live animal imports from Mexicum, reducing the number of cattle entering the United States.

Protect the herd, lose some supply.

Lose supply, raise prices.

Raise beef prices, and somewhere in the Imperial Palace a hamburger alarm begins flashing red.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture forecasts that American beef output may fall by around four percent compared with 2025.

Meanwhile, Americans continue consuming beef at imperial levels.

The United States is the world’s largest beef consumer by volume and ranks second globally in per-capita consumption.

The situation is therefore economically delicate:

The herd is smaller. The appetite is not.

Enter Josephus Bidenus Inflatius

Naturally, no proclamation from the House of Trumpius would be complete without opening the ancient scroll titled:

“Everything That Went Wrong Before I Returned.”

And so once again appears Josephus Bidenus Inflatius, former ruler of the realm and, according to the current imperial chronicles, apparently responsible for inflation, agricultural costs, cattle numbers, climate policy, rancher frustration and possibly several badly cooked steaks.

The Trumpian court argues that years of expensive inputs, inflation and misguided agricultural and climate policies placed enormous pressure on ranchers, helping drive U.S. cattle inventories to their lowest levels in roughly 75 years.

Trumpius, by contrast, presents his return as the beginning of the Great Re-Cowification of America.

The administration says cattle numbers are now beginning to increase for the first time since 2018, while ranchers are retaining more heifers to rebuild their herds.

Thus the official imperial narrative can be summarized very efficiently:

Bidenus emptied the pasture. Trumpius brings back the cows.

Whether cattle reproduction can actually be accelerated through executive confidence remains a question best left to biology.

The Ten-Percent Beef Legion

According to the administration, the temporary imports could increase available beef supply by roughly 10 percent over current projections.

At the same time, the imperial economists insist the additional lean beef should mainly compete with beef coming from cull cows and should not significantly disrupt the fed-cattle market.

This produces one of the most majestic economic maneuvers of the Trumpius age:

Import more foreign beef while protecting American ranchers from foreign beef.

It is the agricultural equivalent of inviting 300 Roman merchants into the marketplace and telling the local butcher:

“Relax, Marcus. They are technically selling different meat.”

Still, the plan is explicitly temporary.

For 90 days, the gates open.

Then, theoretically, America’s domestic cattle empire will have had additional breathing room to rebuild.

The Emperor of the Grocery Cart

The proclamation also arrives wrapped in a much broader Trumpian affordability narrative.

The administration points to deregulation, tax cuts, expanded agricultural support, crop insurance, reduced red tape and programs designed to strengthen farmers and ranchers.

The White House says halting or reversing Biden-era regulations has saved Americans more than $211 billion, equal to approximately $2,461 for a family of four.

Naturally, the imperial accounting department can now perform the only calculation that truly matters:

$2,461 divided by hamburger price equals a tremendous number of hamburgers.

Trumpius also points to the tax cuts enacted in July 2025, including provisions benefiting small businesses, estates and agricultural investment.

Additional initiatives have targeted alleged price fixing, foreign influence in food markets, agricultural innovation and threats to the national cattle herd.

Together they form what historians may someday call the Pax Bovina Trumpiana:

More cows.

Lower costs.

Fewer regulations.

Fewer worms.

More burgers.

And possibly a gold-plated USDA seal reading:

MAKE BEEF AFFORDABLE AGAIN.

America First — Even Between Two Buns

Beneath the imperial trumpets, the policy itself is straightforward.

Americans currently want more beef than domestic supply can comfortably provide at reasonable prices.

So the administration is temporarily allowing additional lean beef imports while U.S. ranchers rebuild cattle inventories.

That is a recognizable supply-and-demand response.

But under Trumpius Caesar, recognizable policy must never remain merely recognizable.

It must become legend.

Thus begins the Great Imperial Ground Beef Offensive of MMXXVI.

For 90 days, specially authorized beef legions will cross the economic frontier. They will arrive in controlled quantities. They will enter under reduced tariffs. They will ideally cost less. They will mingle honorably with American beef.

And when the operation ends, the administration hopes the domestic herd will once again be marching proudly across the plains in sufficient numbers.

Other presidents manage agricultural markets.

Trumpius Caesar commands the hamburger.

And somewhere tonight, upon a mighty American grill, a burger will sizzle beneath the stars while the Emperor gazes upon it and declares:

“Beautiful burger. Very affordable. Tremendous beef. Probably the most patriotic ground beef the world has ever seen.”
