WASHINGTONIUM, IMPERIUM AMERICANUM. — There are presidents who look toward the horizon.

There are presidents who look toward the stars.

And then there is Donaldus Trumpius Maximus Caesar, who apparently looked straight down at the ground and declared:

“There! America is hiding more America!”

And so began the Great Imperial Dig.

On August 7, 2026, Trumpius Caesar summoned the mighty lords of American mining to a historic roundtable—a gathering described by the Imperial White Palace as the largest meeting between a President and mining industry leaders in more than 120 years.

More than $2 billion in critical mining and mining-related projects were announced, accompanied by over $180 million in investments for mining schools and workforce development.

Because Trumpius has reached an important imperial conclusion:

You can have all the minerals in the world, but without somebody who knows the difference between scandium and a decorative driveway pebble, your empire has a problem.

Thus came the new commandment:

America First. Earth Second. Dig Third.

The Department of War Opens the Imperial Treasury

Leading the charge is the mighty Departmentus Belli Americanus, otherwise known as the Department of War—or, in practical terms, the Imperial Ministry of Things Requiring Extremely Expensive Metals.

More than $85 million is heading toward Standardus Bauxitus to secure supplies of refractory-grade bauxite.

This material is important for producing components capable of surviving extremely high temperatures, particularly in defense and industrial applications.

The principle is simple:

American warfighters need equipment.

Equipment needs materials.

Materials need bauxite.

And bauxite, according to the Trumpius Doctrine, should preferably speak fluent American.

Another $150 million goes to Nironium Magnetica of Minnesotium, which is developing permanent magnets made entirely in the United States without relying on rare earth elements.

This may be the most Trumpian magnet ever created.

It attracts American investment while repelling foreign dependency.

Beautiful magnet.

Powerful magnet.

Possibly the greatest magnet anyone has ever magnetized.

$1.4 Billion for the Battery Legions

Then comes Sila Nanotechnologia Californica, recipient of a majestic $1.4 billion investment.

The money is intended to expand production of silicon-carbon battery anodes and establish lithium-ion battery-cell manufacturing capacity.

Those batteries are important for satellite operations, unmanned aerial systems, munitions, and other technologies essential to the modern defense industrial base.

Or, translated from Imperial Bureaucratic into Trumpius:

Tiny materials. Huge batteries. Very expensive flying things. America wins.

Somewhere inside the Imperial Palace, a chart presumably contains arrows connecting silicon, carbon, batteries, drones, satellites, national security, jobs, manufacturing, and finally an enormous golden portrait of Trumpius Caesar.

Behold: Scandium!

But the Great Imperial Dig does not stop with batteries.

Another $400 million goes to Sunrisius Energy Metallorum, which plans to develop a complete scandium value chain, including what the administration describes as the world's first primary scandium mine.

Scandium can help produce high-performance aluminum alloys used in fighter aircraft and spacecraft.

It also has perhaps the finest name of any element in the Trumpius Empire.

Scandium.

That is not an element.

That is obviously a Roman senator.

“Senator Scandium!”

“Yes, Caesar?”

“Have you secured the aluminum alloys?”

“Yes, Caesar!”

“Excellent. You may keep your province.”

The periodic table has officially become an Imperial Cabinet meeting.

Boronius, Graphitus, Tantalus and Niobius Join the Empire

The Export-Import Bankia Imperialis is also distributing treasure.

Around $8 million is destined for 5E Materialius Californicus to develop a boron deposit.

Boron is useful for permanent magnets, semiconductors, glass, and other industrial applications.

Another $25 million heads to Westwaterius Resourcium Alabamensis for development of the Coosa Graphite Deposit, supporting domestic battery manufacturing.

Then another $25 million marches toward Globalus Materialius Pennsylvanicus for tantalum and niobium used in electronics, magnets, and steel production.

At this point, the presidential morning briefing probably sounds less like geopolitics and more like chemistry class conducted by Julius Caesar.

“Caesar, the niobium situation.”

“Proceed.”

“The tantalum reserves.”

“Excellent.”

“Graphite?”

“American.”

“Boron?”

“Soon to be more American.”

“Scandium?”

“Magnificent.”

Madagascarum Enters the Imperial Mineral Map

Not every critical resource sits beneath American soil.

The Developmentus Finance Corporatio is matching a $4.8 million investment in Harena Rare Earthius, which aims to develop a rare-earth mine in Madagascarum.

The objective is to secure inputs used by American manufacturers, including magnet metals and rare earth elements.

The Trumpius mineral strategy can therefore be summarized with admirable simplicity:

If it is in Minnesota—develop it.

If it is in Alabama—develop it.

If it is in California—develop it.

If it is in Pennsylvania—develop it.

If it is underneath Madagascar—apparently develop that too.

If somebody discovers lithium underneath a Florida golf cart tomorrow morning, expect an Executive Order by lunchtime.

The Imperial Academies of Mining

Trumpius Caesar also understands that minerals do not politely climb out of the earth, fill in the necessary paperwork, and report to a factory.

People are required.

Specifically, geologists, metallurgists, mining engineers, and other specialists who know what they are doing when everybody else is staring at a rock.

The Departmentus Energiae is therefore investing $100 million in America's 14 mining schools.

The goal is ambitious: revitalize the mining workforce and double the number of graduates earning credentials connected to mining, minerals, and critical supply chains.

Meanwhile, the Department of War is investing more than $80 million into three schools for workforce development programs and technology innovation hubs.

And so the Empire shall raise a new generation:

Geologicus Maximus!

Metallurgicus Magnificus!

Minerus Americanus!

Engineerus Profundus!

Their sacred mission:

Go underground.

Find something expensive.

Bring it back.

And please make sure America does not have to order it from somebody else.

The Great War Against Foreign Dependency

Behind the imperial spectacle is a serious strategic objective.

Critical minerals and materials are essential to modern economies. They are used in automobiles, computers, smartphones, industrial machinery, semiconductors, batteries, military systems, aircraft, and advanced technologies.

The United States therefore wants stronger domestic capabilities across mining, processing, refining, manufacturing, and recycling.

The goal is to reduce exposure to foreign supply disruptions and strengthen the American industrial and defense bases.

In Trumpius terminology:

No foreign emperor should be able to ruin Tuesday by refusing to ship a mineral.

That means rebuilding not only mines, but entire supply chains.

And Trumpius Caesar wants them long, strong, domestic, resilient, secure, and preferably decorated with several American flags.

160 Mineral Deals—and Nearly $40 Billion

The Imperial Palace points to an even larger record.

Since January 2025, the Trump Administration says it has signed or approved 160 mineral deals worth nearly $40 billion.

That is a considerable amount of digging.

Trumpius has also deployed Section 232 measures covering strategically important industries and products, including steel, aluminum, copper, trucks, automobiles, timber, lumber, semiconductors, critical minerals, and pharmaceuticals.

The stated purpose is to protect national security, strengthen domestic production, support American workers, and reduce strategic vulnerabilities.

By now, virtually every important material in the United States appears to have one of four things attached to it:

A tariff.

An Executive Order.

A national security investigation.

Or Trumpius pointing at it.

Executive Orders From the Mountains to the Sea

The mineral campaign has been building for some time.

In March 2025, Trumpius signed an Executive Order aimed at boosting American mineral production, accelerating permitting, and strengthening national security.

In April 2025 came another order seeking to restore American leadership in offshore critical minerals and resources.

In October, the administration moved to advance authorizations connected with the Ambler Road Project, intended to provide transportation access to Alaska's Ambler Mining District.

January 2026 brought action concerning imports of processed critical minerals and derivative products.

Then July brought additional measures designed to secure defense supply chains and ensure domestic access to critical materials needed for modern military equipment.

Trumpius also delegated authority under the Defense Production Act concerning export restrictions on recoverable critical minerals and materials.

At this stage, anyone attempting to move an unusually valuable rock across America should probably check the Federal Register first.

The Greatest Mining Roundtable in 120 Years

According to the White Palace, this gathering represented the largest meeting of mining industry leaders with a President in more than 120 years.

Naturally, the administration also concluded that no President has supported American mining more than Donald Trump.

This is the kind of statement that arrives in Trumpius communications with the reliability of sunrise.

Largest.

Strongest.

Most historic.

Most magnificent.

Possibly visible from space.

But beneath all the imperial trumpets, golden helmets, metaphorical marble columns, and extremely excited geologists sits a massive industrial strategy.

Billions for mining projects.

Millions for education.

Domestic magnets.

American graphite.

Boron for semiconductors.

Scandium for aircraft.

Tantalum and niobium for advanced manufacturing.

Silicon-carbon technology for batteries.

And a new generation of engineers trained to locate whatever valuable material the Empire requires next.

Somewhere in Washingtonium, Donaldus Trumpius Maximus Caesar now stands before an enormous geological map of America.

He studies it.

He raises one imperial finger.

The Cabinet falls silent.

And the command echoes from the marble halls of the White Palace to the deepest mines of the Republic:

“DIG, AMERICA, DIG! THERE IS GREATNESS DOWN THERE—AND WE ARE GOING TO FIND IT!”
