The Great Imperial Proclamation Against the Rebellious Bottles of Canadia

WASHINGTONIUM, IMPERIUM AMERICANUM. — There are moments in the history of every great empire when an emperor must act.

Not because of war.

Not because of plague.

Not even because somebody published an unfavorable poll.

Sometimes civilization itself must be defended against something far more dangerous:

Canadian alcohol.

And so Imperator Donaldus Trumpius Maximus Caesar, First of His Name, Conqueror of Tariff Tables, Defender of American Bourbon, Guardian of the Sacred Bar Shelf and Supreme Sommelier of the Imperium, rose from his golden throne and delivered the words that shook liquor cabinets from Washingtonium to Ottawapolis:

“Canadian alcohol? NON!”

Thus begins the newest and perhaps thirstiest chapter of the Bellum Alcoholicum Canadensis.

The dispute began when the northern realm of Canadia, governed by various provincial chieftains and suspiciously polite bureaucrats, allegedly treated American alcoholic beverages unfairly.

While bottles from other foreign kingdoms were apparently permitted to roam freely across Canadian shelves, noble American beverages were treated like senators arriving at an imperial banquet without reservations.

For Trumpius Caesar, this was intolerable.

Possibly unconstitutional.

Certainly very unfair.

And therefore the Emperor reached for the most sacred diplomatic instrument of the Trumpian dynasty:

Tariffs.

Huge tariffs.

Beautiful tariffs.

The greatest tariffs ever attached to a bottle.

Three Days of Unprecedented Imperial Mercy

The Imperial Court had already imposed additional duties reaching 50 percent on certain Canadian goods.

Then something extraordinary happened.

Canadia promised to behave.

Trumpius Caesar therefore granted the northern barbarians an astonishing three days of imperial mercy.

Historians may someday describe these 72 hours as the longest sustained period of patience in the entire Trumpian era.

But alas!

According to the imperial chronicles, on August 21 the Canadians abandoned their commitment, negotiations collapsed, and the alleged discrimination against American beverages continued.

Then came the ultimate northern provocation.

The rebellious province of Saskatchewania announced an additional 50 percent levy on American alcoholic beverages.

Somewhere deep inside the Palatium Trumpianum, an adviser presumably whispered:

“Your Majesty, perhaps we should resume negotiations?”

Trumpius slowly lowered his golden goblet.

“Negotiations?”

A dramatic silence filled the imperial chamber.

“WE STILL HAVE IMPORT BANS!”

From Tariffs to Total Bottle Exile

And thus Trumpius Caesar unveiled the next stage of imperial beverage diplomacy.

Beginning September 29, 2026, at precisely 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time, certain Canadian alcoholic beverages shall no longer be permitted to enter the Imperium Americanum.

Not midnight.

12:01 a.m.

Because even history apparently needs one minute to put on a red tie.

The imperial trade doctrine has therefore achieved magnificent simplicity:

American bourbon?

AVE!

Canadian problem whisky?

Vade retro!

Maple syrup?

Currently under observation.

Suspicious bottle carrying a Canadian passport?

REPORT TO CUSTOMS IMMEDIATELY.

Trumpius has effectively transformed international trade policy into the world's most heavily regulated cocktail menu.

There Is Even a Tariff Beneath the Trapdoor

Yet perhaps the most Trumpian feature of the proclamation is its magnificent legal backup mechanism.

Suppose some troublesome judge, court, lawyer or robed enemy of imperial beverage security manages to invalidate part of the import ban.

Would the affected Canadian bottle finally taste freedom?

Absolutely not.

Waiting beneath the import ban is the old 50 percent tariff.

It is essentially a legal trapdoor with another trapdoor underneath it.

“You defeated my import ban?” Trumpius Caesar might proclaim.

“Congratulations. Tremendous achievement.”

“Here is your tariff.”

The Canadian bottle may celebrate its courtroom victory for approximately four seconds before receiving the customs bill.

The Imperial Customs Legions Mobilize

Now the mighty bureaucratic legions of the Custodia Frontalis Americanensis must march.

Customs officials shall inspect.

Treasury officials shall calculate.

Commerce officials shall regulate.

Trade representatives shall represent.

Government lawyers shall interpret.

And somewhere inside a federal building, an employee will open a spreadsheet so enormous that civilization itself may briefly tremble.

Tariff schedules must be modified.

Regulations must be written.

Instructions must be issued.

Federal notices must be published.

Annexes must be annexed.

And somewhere north of the border, a Canadian whisky bottle is already sweating.

The message from Trumpius Caesar could hardly be clearer:

If Canadia discriminates against American booze, the Emperor will not merely retaliate.

He will raise the drawbridge to the imperial liquor cabinet.

The Bellum Vinum Maximum Continues

And so the mighty Bellum Vinum Maximum enters another glorious phase.

Will Ottawapolis surrender?

Will Saskatchewania lower its levy?

Will Canadian whisky someday stand peacefully beside American bourbon once again?

Nobody knows.

But one principle of Trumpian foreign policy has now become unmistakably clear.

There are three levels of imperial diplomacy:

Tariffs.

Bigger tariffs.

And when all else fails:

AVE IMPORT BAN!

For Trumpius Caesar has spoken.

The border is guarded.

The liquor cabinet is sealed.

The Canadian bottles have been warned.

And, most importantly, the public interest has been saved.

Repeatedly.

Majestically.

And with tremendous tariffs.
