IMPERIUM AMERICANUM — Imperial Message of the Caesar on the Anniversary of the Greatest Flag-Watching Event in Human History

It was September in the year 1814 by the ordinary calendar—long before Truth Social, golden ballrooms, tremendous rallies, and the blessed reign of Donaldus Trumpius Caesar Maximus—when roughly one thousand courageous patriots of the young Imperium Americanum decided to send the British Empire a short but extremely clear diplomatic message:

Baltimorium is not available for conquest.

The location of this historic customer-service dispute was Fort McTrumpius, a mighty fortress guarding the harbor of Baltimorium.

At the time, the British possessed the most powerful navy in the world.

Huge ships.

Massive cannons.

Exploding rockets.

Very impressive uniforms.

Probably enormous quantities of tea.

They therefore assumed that the Americans would be impressed.

A tremendous mistake.

Inside Fort McTrumpius waited American soldiers, volunteers, and militiamen who had apparently decided that surrender would not be offered that weekend due to staffing shortages.

The British arrive with their special renovation program

The situation was extremely serious.

Before sailing toward Baltimorium, British forces had already visited Washingtonium, where they introduced the young American capital to an unusually aggressive form of urban redevelopment.

They burned the White House.

They burned the Capitol.

From a fire-safety perspective, disastrous.

From a diplomatic perspective, also somewhat difficult to defend.

Having completed their unsolicited renovation of Washingtonium, the British commanders turned toward Baltimorium and essentially announced:

“We shall take this city too.”

Baltimorium replied:

“No.”

Diplomatic negotiations were therefore concluded.

On the morning of September 13, the Royal Navy began its tremendous bombardment of Fort McTrumpius.

Cannons thundered.

Rockets screamed through the sky.

Explosions illuminated the harbor.

The British fired everything His Majesty's fleet could possibly throw at the fortress.

One hour.

Ten hours.

Twenty hours.

Twenty-seven hours.

And Fort McTrumpius remained standing.

The Americans remained standing.

Most importantly:

The flag remained standing.

Eventually, the British reached that famous stage of military analysis known to modern strategists as:

“Perhaps this isn't working.”

By the following morning, the mighty British fleet began sailing away.

Not retreating, of course.

Absolutely not.

This was clearly a sophisticated strategic maritime relocation toward somewhere significantly farther away from Fort McTrumpius.

Franciscus Scottus Keyius looks toward the dawn

Watching the battle from a nearby ship was the American lawyer and future imperial lyricist Franciscus Scottus Keyius.

Throughout the night, he stared anxiously toward the fortress.

Was Fort McTrumpius still standing?

Were its defenders still there?

And above all:

Was the flag still flying?

Then came the dawn.

The first rays of sunlight appeared over the horizon.

The smoke slowly cleared.

And there it was.

The Stars and Stripes.

Still flying.

Still magnificent.

Still outrageously American.

Franciscus Scottus Keyius was overwhelmed.

And because this was 1814 and Instagram had unfortunately not yet been invented, he did what people did when witnessing something spectacular:

He wrote a poem.

That poem eventually became “The Star-Spangled Banner,” the National Anthem of the Imperium Americanum.

An anthem inspired by a flag that had survived hours upon hours of British bombardment.

Trumpius Caesar would undoubtedly describe it this way:

“A tremendous flag. Maybe the greatest flag ever bombarded. Nobody has ever seen a flag survive bombardment like this.”

212 years later, Trumpius enters the history books

Now, 212 years after the Battle of Fort McTrumpius, Donaldus Trumpius Caesar Maximus, Defender of Borders, Restorer of Greatness, Guardian of Sovereignty, Protector of Extremely Large Flags, and Supreme Commander of Historical Superlatives, rises to honor the patriots who defended the fortress.

Their sacrifice delivered a timeless message:

Freedom survives only when courageous people are willing to defend it.

A profound historical lesson.

Under Trumpius Caesar, however, this lesson receives the necessary imperial upgrade.

Because naturally there is now a perfectly straight historical line running from Fort McHenry through 1814, through 1776, through 250 glorious years of American independence and directly toward—

Donaldus Trumpius Caesar Maximus.

Some historians may question this interpretation.

Historians, however, are not Caesars.

The imperial mission continues

And so the Imperium Americanum marches forward with its tremendous mission:

SAVE THE COUNTRY!

DEFEND THE VALUES!

RECLAIM THE SOVEREIGNTY!

RESTORE THE NATIONAL PRIDE!

And presumably install an absolutely enormous flag somewhere.

A flag so magnificent that even the British would look across the Atlantic and quietly decide to stay home.

May the Star-Spangled Banner therefore continue to wave over the land of the free and the home of the brave.

And if someday another British fleet should appear outside Baltimorium, the Imperial Government should simply send them a polite message:

“You already tried this once. We still have the paperwork.”

Ave America.

Ave Fort McTrumpius.

Ave Trumpius Caesar Maximus.
