Trumpius Caesar and the Day Even the Emperor Fell Silent

A quarter of a century has passed since the United Provinces of Americus were struck on September 11, 2001, by terrorist attacks whose images became permanently burned into the memory of an entire generation.

And so, in the imperial year of 2026, none other than Imperator Donaldus Magnus Trumpius Caesar, Lord of the Golden West Wing, Guardian of the Sacred Border, Commander of the Tremendous Legions and Self-Appointed Custodian of All Strength Everywhere, stepped before the people.

This time, however, there were no victory trumpets.

No triumphal chariots.

No golden banners declaring that attendance had been the largest in imperial history.

Because even in the Empire of Trumpius, there are days when the trumpets must remain silent.

Trumpius honored the 2,977 people who lost their lives in the September 11 attacks. He remembered those in the towers of Novum Eboracum, the victims at the great Pentagonium of Arlingtonia, and the passengers aboard Flight 93 who resisted their hijackers.

The Emperor also paid tribute to firefighters, police officers, emergency personnel, medical workers and countless volunteers who entered smoke, fire, destruction and chaos while others desperately tried to escape it.

For one extraordinarily rare moment in the chronicles of Trumpius, the Imperial Self-Congratulation Orchestra remained locked in its ceremonial cupboard.

Mostly.

Because Trumpius Caesar would hardly be Trumpius Caesar if an official proclamation could pass entirely without reminding the Empire that its ruler commands extremely impressive things.

Thus the Emperor proclaimed that his administration had ensured Americus possessed the “strongest and most lethal military in the world”—presumably including an elite ceremonial battalion permanently assigned to polishing the phrase “greatest ever.”

The imperial foreign-policy doctrine was also once again carved into the marble walls:

Pax Per Fortitudinem — Peace Through Strength.

Or, translated from Imperial Trumpian into ordinary English:

“We absolutely want peace, but first everyone needs to see how enormous our swords are.”

Yet beneath the imperial gold leaf stood a serious message.

Terrorism, hatred and extremism do not disappear simply because calendars advance. Freedom, security and democratic institutions require protection. The memory of those who died must not be reduced to another political slogan, campaign banner or piece of palace merchandise.

Even the Imperial Ministry of Tremendous Branding appeared to understand that much.

Trumpius then arrived at the traditional constitutional climax of every imperial proclamation: the moment when authority, parchment and an exceptionally enthusiastic signature combine.

By the powers granted to him by the Constitution, the laws of Americus and, presumably, the undeniable magnificence of his enormous black marker, Donaldus J. Trumpius Caesar proclaimed September 11, 2026, as Patriot Day throughout the American Empire.

Flags were ordered to half-staff at the Imperial White Palace, across government buildings, military installations, naval vessels and diplomatic outposts throughout the world.

Governors, officials and subjects across the provinces were encouraged to join in remembrance.

No golden triumphal arches.

No celebratory parade.

No Imperial Victory Golf Tournament.

Only remembrance.

Because despite all the pomp, branding and political theater that regularly surrounds the Court of Trumpius, September 11 remains a day when satire must recognize the boundary drawn by genuine human loss.

People died.

Families were changed forever.

First responders knowingly entered places from which others were fleeing.

And perhaps that is the most unusual lesson contained within this Imperial Proclamation.

Even an Emperor who traditionally possesses the astonishing ability to transform almost every event into another chapter of the Great Trumpius Epic must occasionally acknowledge that some stories are larger than the man telling them.

Thus the imperial parchment closes in the Year of Our Lord 2026 and the 251st year of American Independence beneath the grandest signature known to civilization:

DONALDUS J. TRUMPIUS CAESAR

Imperator Americae.

Defensor Patriae.

Custos Legionum.

Master of the Golden West Wing.

And, for this one solemn day:

a ruler willing to lower the flag instead of putting his own name across it.
