From the Golden Palatium of Washingtonia, the imperial trade trumpets have sounded once again.

His Most Economically Magnificent Majesty, Imperator Donaldus Trumpius Maximus, Protector of American Yogurt, Defender of Sacred Dairy, Supreme Guardian of Domestic Factories, and Eternal Vanquisher of Unfair Import Lists, has spoken.

And this time, the imperial thunder is rolling north.

Far beyond the sacred borderlands lies the rebellious province known as Canadia Ahornia, a frozen kingdom of maple syrup, hockey sticks, suspiciously polite citizens, and apparently uncontrollable tariff ambitions.

Canadia has retaliated against the Empire.

A terrible mistake.

A tremendous mistake.

Possibly the greatest Canadian mistake since somebody looked at tree sap and said, “Let’s put this on pancakes.”

Five Proclamations of Imperial Economic Fury

After Canadia imposed new retaliatory tariffs on roughly $20 billion worth of American exports, including steel, dairy products, and agricultural equipment, Trumpius Caesar did not merely summon an ambassador.

He summoned the proclamations.

Five of them.

Because one proclamation is presidential.

Five proclamations are imperial.

Armed with the ancient and powerful economic scroll known as Section CCCXXXVIII of the Tariff Actus of 1930, Trumpius ordered new import bans while reshuffling tariffs previously imposed upon Canadian goods.

The principle of Trumpian imperial trade law is beautifully simple:

When America imposes tariffs, it is fairness.

When another country responds with tariffs, it is discrimination.

This distinction is reportedly so important that it may soon be carved into marble above the entrance to the Imperial Department of Commerce.

Wine, Milk and the Honor of the Empire

Among the gravest offenses committed by Canadia was its continued mistreatment of American alcoholic beverages.

Apparently, Canadian merchants failed to display sufficient reverence toward bourbon, wine, and other sacred liquid ambassadors of American greatness.

Trumpius therefore selected the subtle diplomatic response:

BAN THEM.

Certain Canadian alcoholic products previously subjected to 50 percent tariffs will now simply be denied entrance into the Empire.

Then came dairy.

Canadia continued its alleged discrimination against American dairy commerce.

Trumpius responded with another magnificent demonstration of free-trade philosophy:

More import bans.

Certain Canadian dairy products shall no longer cross the imperial frontier.

Because nothing demonstrates commitment to free trade quite like preventing trade from occurring.

Economists may have a complicated term for this.

Trumpius has a shorter one:

Winning.

Rock Salt Out, ATVs In

But the Imperial Council of Tariff Wizards was not finished.

Trumpius also ordered changes to the enormous scroll of Canadian products facing punishment.

Some goods, including rock salt and cement, are being removed.

This may have occurred after someone inside Washingtonia quietly explained that roads become slippery without salt and buildings become somewhat inconvenient without cement.

But fear not.

New products shall take their place.

Among them:

All-terrain vehicles.

ATVs.

Because when two enormous neighboring economies are conducting a complicated trade dispute involving billions of dollars, dairy quotas, steel, automobiles, and national industrial policy, what the situation desperately needs is recreational four-wheelers.

The Imperial Tariff Oracle has spoken.

September 29: The Maple Gate Closes

The new import bans are scheduled to take effect on September 29, 2026, while additions and removals from the tariff lists begin on September 15.

Thus Canadian merchants have only a brief window to roll their remaining cheese wheels, dairy products, and economically suspicious vehicles across the border before the Great Maple Gate descends.

Trumpets may be involved.

Possibly eagles.

Definitely paperwork.

America Prima — Now With More Yogurt

Naturally, all of this serves the highest economic doctrine of the Trumpius Empire:

AMERICA PRIMA!

According to the Golden Palatium, tariffs encourage companies to return jobs and production to American soil.

And the Imperial Treasury has numbers.

Very large numbers.

American yogurt maker Chobanius Lactatus is investing $1.2 billion in Pennsylvania and plans to produce new high-protein milk.

Rollus-Roycius Britannicus has completed a $1 billion investment in Indiana to test and build engines for the American Air Legions.

Meanwhile, Octapharma Helvetica intends to invest $1.5 billion in a new biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Carolina Australis.

The Palatium points to more than $11 trillion in total announced investment since Trumpius returned to power.

This number is so majestic that somewhere inside the Imperial Treasury an accountant has probably stopped using spreadsheets and simply entered:

A LOT.

Fifty Billion Dollars of Canadian Stuff? Begone!

But Trumpius was still not finished.

The Imperator also commanded his Trade Legate and the mighty Generalis Servitiorum Administratio to remove roughly $50 billion worth of Canadian-origin products from federal purchasing schedules.

Canadia shall therefore sell less.

And Washingtonia shall deliberately buy less.

Perfect economic symmetry.

It is the international-trade equivalent of two neighbors arguing over a fence and resolving the disagreement by simultaneously refusing to borrow each other’s lawn mower.

Diplomacy has rarely been so efficient.

The Great Axis of Tariff Resistance

Then came the most dramatic revelation from the Imperial Chroniclers.

According to the Palatium, during the past year and a half only two nations have dared retaliate against Trumpius tariffs instead of negotiating an agreement:

Sinia Populus, otherwise known as China.

And...

Canadia Ahornia.

Canada has therefore achieved the extraordinary geopolitical accomplishment of joining China in an exclusive two-member Club of Imperial Tariff Disobedience.

Quite an achievement for a nation whose traditional instruments of international intimidation have consisted primarily of hockey players, maple syrup, and saying “sorry” before imposing countertariffs.

Free Trade, Trumpius Style

And so the imperial message echoes across the continent.

Trumpius Caesar shall defend American workers.

Trumpius Caesar shall protect American farmers.

Trumpius Caesar shall restore fair trade.

Through tariffs.

Import bans.

Procurement restrictions.

Product lists.

Counter-lists.

Revised lists.

Proclamations about lists.

And perhaps eventually an entire Imperial Ministry for the Strategic Defense Against Hostile Canadian Cheese.

Because inside the Empire of Trumpius, one eternal economic truth towers above all others:

Free trade has finally been achieved when everyone is freely doing exactly what Washingtonia tells them to do.

And if Canadia continues its rebellion?

The ultimate weapon may yet be deployed.

A complete ban on maple syrup.

At which point even the Imperial Senate may whisper:

Caesar... perhaps we have gone too far.
